In February 2021 the GVIA hosted their annual field day which brought together irrigators and researchers from Sugar, Rice, Grains and Cotton. Participants were able to hear about the latest innovations in irrigation research, share experiences with each other and learn from growers who are adopting these innovations. The focus was on practical approaches to optimisation and automation of irrigation.
Irrigators got to see the new 500ha bankless field at Keytah, and learn about technologies including the EnviroNode IoT, Netafim’s new light weight drip tape, Padman Stops range of automated gate controllers, Deakin University’s smart sensing research, Goanna Ag’s GoField unit fitted with CSIRO Canopy Temperature Sensors and the University of Southern Qld SISCOweb furrow optimisation technology.
This is the first of a series of videos discussing the technologies presented at the field day.
