IAL/ICID Webinar Addressing the global water challenge through autonomous irrigation

In October 2020 members of the SIP2 team participated in a webinar hosted by IAL and ICID. The seminar provided a technical overview of the practical application of autonomous irrigation on farms across Australia. There was discussion on how these technologies may be implemented on farms in Australia or in a staged manner to meet the needs of less technologically advanced countries. Associate Professor Joseph Foley from the University of Southern Queensland, Centre for Agricultural Engineering and Associate Professor John Hornbuckle from Deakin University made presentations and then participated in the panel discussion with James Toscan an irrigator from Griffith in southern NSW and Aaron Linton an irrigator from northern Qld, both Aaron and James have adopted automation of irrigation into their systems.
