Rob Houghton, the chair of IREC talks about the fully automated irrigation demonstration site at Whitton. https://irec.org.au/research/ The site is one of four southern NSW sites which is part of the Smarter Irrigation for Profit 2 program and it provides producers an opportunity to see and hear about the use of soil monitoring sensors, weather stations, and automation technologies. The IREC site demonstrates best practice irrigation and strives to make the most out of every megalitre of water applied. IREC host regular field days so producers can see how technology can be applied to improve farm water use efficiency.
