Soil moisture deficits & plant available soil water

Understanding soil moisture and the access plants have to that moisture is important to support irrigation decision making. In this video Alex Schultz from the NSW DPI talks about the difference between Water Content sensors and Water Potential sensors. An increased understanding of soil moisture will help growers know when and how much to irrigate. This will help improve irrigation water use efficiency and improve yield potential which together will improve the bottom line for irrigated cropping.
