Smarter Irrigation for Profit supported research in areas including new irrigation technologies including new sensors, advanced analytics to improve irrigation scheduling and strategies to reduce water storage evaporation.
This website hosts many of the videos, case studies and fact sheets produced by researchers, consultants and producer groups involved in Smarter Irrigation for Profit projects (2016 -2022) with a focus on the cotton and dairy industries.
The website also hosts resources being produced through the Advancing the adoption of climate-smart, innovative irrigation control technology for the cotton and dairy industries (VARIwise) project (2024-2028). Funded under the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust Climate-Smart Agriculture Program, the focus of this project is taking the innovative autonomous irrigation control system VARIwise from the research phase to a commercial-ready package that can be adopted in any irrigation system.
